How to make your Child a Genius?

Your child too can be a Genius!

Every parent wants to make their child a Genius. You have had about 100 billion since birth.  You could hold it easily in one hand.  It generally weighs under three pounds (1500 grams) yet it’s the world’s most powerful computer and surprisingly you own it.  But no one is using more than a fraction of that amazing ability.

What you need to do for making your Child a Genius?

This is why the humans are so unique, Yes, it’s your amazing brain. Your brain is made up of trillion brain cells.  Each of our 100 billion active neurons is a virtual computer in itself. Each neuron is capable of sprouting between 2000 and 20,000 branches, called dendrites- very much like the branches of a tree.

How could you enhance your child’s Brain development?

Does this question bother you?

All those responsible for a child’s learning at home or any other place hold the key to unlock the doors of learning and a child’s growth. The most important criteria for laying a strong foundation towards learning is to create a safe and secure environment.

What kind of environment are we referring to when we say safe and secure?

A child’s brain is nurtured by loving interactions and can absorb maximum information much more quickly and effectively under “relaxed alertness” which means an environment that has happiness, loving, and caring people or caretakers around. That’s why every successful study sessions begin with relaxation exercises. Relaxation is necessary to clear your subconscious mind to be able to receive uncluttered messages.  You must have noticed that you do not remember certain information even if repeated a number of times because your subconscious mind wasn’t ready to receive.

You might remember information passed on to you only when your receivers are ready in your unique way of learning; be it writing on a paper, or listening attentively or seeing it in pictorial form.

A child feels secure in an environment where the parents or the caregivers respond to the child through responsible behavior. The positive response makes the child feel comfortable in interacting with the adults. The warmth of affection and promptness in our response make the child feel secure. You are able to win a child’s trust and help him explore the world around him. Hold children on your lap or hug them, touch on the hand, or give a “high five” to form a sense of trust with you. Touch is the most vital lifeline to security. If you deprive a child of touch, the body and brain stop growing in a healthy manner.

Even physical stroking helps a premature child gain weight quickly and also helps to digest food better. The minute you touch or hold a child in your arms, he stops crying. A touch is a form of reassurance that a child looks for.

Three things that are very essential in procuring a secure and safe environment are:

  1. To be able to understand the signals of the child ie. Sensitivity
  2. To be able to respond quickly to the child’s signals ie. Timing
  3. To be able to respond with care and gentle behavior ie Warmth

Do not overstimulate your child:

Buying expensive toys, video games, computers, or gadgets by parents does not prove their concern for the child rather stresses the child, kills the child’s confidence since gadgets are definitely new things and they make the child feel stressed out when not able to solve or cope up with it.

Remove those toys or apparatus that upset or stress the child since it can affect the development, cause trauma, and prevent the chemicals in the brain to be released. This might destroy the brain cells, can make the brain vulnerable, reduce the number of dendrites formation. ( Dendrites as I mentioned above are like branches of a tree which store information, and receive input from other cells.) children who experience high stress or abuse or scolded for every little mistake develop fear, anxiety and have difficulty developing an emotional response.

How should the parents behave?

  1. Parents must not discuss financial issues before children.
  2. Not scolding or shouting at children when they fall sick.
  3. Providing safe toys which would not affect the child’s self-confidence.
  4. Monitor the changes in behavior to ensure they are protected from abusive individuals.

The brain develops through hands-on experience but stress can inhibit this development. Engage children by playing together, make noise as just they do, laugh out loudly, don’t stop smiling or laughing when they become upset, these signals will help you overcome the situation faster. Children are satisfied souls, they do not look for bigger things. Even very simple or hands-on experience such as rolling on the mat, touching the plants, holding a pet, turning the pages of a book, being able to grasp a spoon, touching, talking, listening, tasting, smelling, singing, running make them happy.

What should the parents do to help children?

Children have a memory that forgets action but remembers the emotions attached to that incident. Repetition is the technique through which they learn. Repeating over and over leads to set neural connections.  Things like getting ready to go to school, they love circle time activities, they like to listen to stories before going home so they insist on the same routine to be followed every day. Generally, a gap of two days a week when the school remains off makes them dull and boring. Narrating the same stories or reciting the same rhymes might seem boring to you but the children enjoy them always. That is the only practical, easy, and simple way to help your child learn.

If possible, try to read stories for 10 minutes a day or show them pictures over and over again.  Limit the time that your child should spend with television or any mechanical toys rather than encourage them to explore. By following the above methods you can make your child a genius and super intelligent. Here are the list of Foods for the making of a Genius Brain.
